How to Remove Gum From Your Carpet
How to remove gum from your carpet
Gum can be a challenging thing to get out of carpet or upholstery. One common way to remove it in the past has been to place an ice cube on it to freeze it. Here, we'll show you how to greatly speed up that process, and completely remove it from your carpeting.
1. Purchase a can of compressed air (commonly used to blow dust off keyboard and other electronic devices. You should be able to find one at any office suppy store.
2. Holding can upside down with the small straw nozzle inserted, spray the gum to be removed. When a compressed air can is held upside down, it will spray liquid nitrogen, which instantly freezes anything it comes into contact with. [DO NOT spray onto skin or anything else that you do not desire to be frozen!]
3. Once gum is frozen (should only take a few seconds), use a hard scraping tool (a butter knife or a spoon will work fine) to break the gum into pieces and dislodge it from the carpet. Discard the gum pieces.
